A shamrock has only three leaves.

In 432 AD St. Patrick plucked a shamrock from the soil and used it to explain the Holy Trinity to the High King of Ireland at Tara, Co-Meath, Ireland.

Each leaf depicted the
Father,
Son,
and Holy Spirit
combined into one.
When Irish eyes are smiling
Sure it's like a morning spring
In the lilt of Irish laughter
You can hear the angels sing

When Irish hearts are happy
All the world seems bright and gay
And when Irish eyes are smiling
Sure they steal your heart away
